Question by ninjamouse02: What kinds of fish should i put in???????????????? aquarium?
Any good tank mates for killifish like the clown killifish and the lyretail panchax killifish? I wanted to get a 26 gallon aquarium with 2 lyretail panchax killifish and 2 clown killifish and 2 otocinclus cat fish. What other kinds of fish would you recomend for my 26 gallon? be sure to list how many of each fish please.

The choices are so many… All i can really suggest is going to the petstore and looking around, write donw the names of any fish that catch your fancy, go home and google/research them temp, ph, size, food, school number, difficulty of keep, etc.

Personally, I like tetras, small ones like emperor, neon tetra, cardinal tetra, glowlight, black neon, along with danios, platies, guppies, white clouds, etc.

   Perhaps you should do a little more research on the Killifish family. Most Killies do better in “species tanks”, ones devoted to a specific species. Since both of the fish that you mention are so called “annual fishes”, spawning is almost a requisite to maintaining a colony. Most Killie keepers use smaller tanks and keep the fish in pairs or trios.
   Possibly a book or two would get you off on the right foot.

   I wanted an “exotic” tank away from the normal tropical fish so I went with…

   5 Golden Wonder Killifish
   2 pearl gouramis
   3 dwarf pencilfish (but 2 disappeared…)
   3 lemon tetras
   3 marbel hatchetfish
   3 cory cats
   1 albino rainbow shark

   its a really cool display in a 29 gallon tank. but the killifish and hatchets like to stay at the top. hope this helps good luck!
