Question by kay m: What kind of killifish do I have?
I bought a killifish at Walmart (yes, I know, don’t buy fish from Walmart, but I just happened to walk by and he just looked so sad). I keep trying to research him and figure out what the heck he is, but I am not having any luck. He looks kind of like a golden wonder killifish, except he is more green than yellow, and his tail has red tips on it. The sign when I bought him said “sunrise killifish” or “sunset killifish” (I can’t remember which), but I have tried to research them online, and I have had no such luck.

He seems to be doing great, but I just want to know what exactly he is so that I can make sure I am giving him everything he needs.

Thanks so much!

You probably have a golden wonder–they have lots of common names. They can be greenish gold, and males have red fin tips. Here are some pics:

Golden wonder Panchax (Aplocheilus lineatus) are sometimes sold under the name ‘sunset killifish’, so I would put my money on it.
