I’ll agree with the previous poster that golden wonders are 1 of the easier killies for a beginner. They’re generally peaceful to other species that are larger, but if you want to keep them in a community tank with small species [guppies, neons, smaller rasboras, tetras, or danios, anything under 2.5-3 inches] you should know the killis will eat them. I thought you should have that information to make your decision. http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile.php?genus=Aplocheilus&species=lineatus&id=341 http://www.aka.org/aka/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=2150

A killi I would suggest is the American flag fish if you have a room temperature tank or a tropical tank at the lower end of the temperature range [75-76 degrees]. http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile.php?genus=Jordanella&species=floridae&id=199 This and the golden wonder are probably the 2 most commonly sold killifish in stores.

Another killi I would suggest is the Gabon killifish although these might be harder to find. They’re smaller [about 2 inches] and another non-annual [will live for more than 1 year, many killi species don't]. http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile.php?genus=Aphyosemion&species=gabunense+gabunense&id=335

Clown killis could be a possibility, but they’re small and shy, and shouldn’t be with fish much larger than themselves. I’ve seen a few places like Liveaquaria.com that offer them online. http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile.php?genus=Pseudepiplatys&species=annulatus&id=358

And finally, the large-finned lampeye. http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile.php?genus=Procatopus&species=nototaenia&id=145 Even though this fish is considered a killi, it’s classified in the family Poecillidae, which is the same family as guppies and mollies. But this fish is an egglayer, not a livebearer.

That should give you a few you can choose from.
