Can you mix betta fish with killifish? Also dose the commercially available hatching kit of killifish called magic-fish actually work?

The hatching kit should work provided the eggs have been stored correctly. These are generally annual Killifish species, which only live one year. There are many species and these “kits” don’t generally state exactly what species you’ll be hatching

I would not recommend mixing Bettas and Killis. Killis should be in tanks over 15 gallons ideally and often need very specific water chemistry, often very acidic. Pet store Bettas, while also preferring acidic, are pretty adaptable. There’s also a high chance the Killi would fin nip or even bully the Betta depending on what species you end up with. The Betta may try and retaliate too.

But all of this is really going to depend on the species of Killi, there are annual and non-annual species spread across several families of fish, there are hundreds of species of Killi!! Have a little read here:

    No dont mix Betta with killfish.They are not compatible to be together!
